What will you throw into the ocean? What will you send back? And will it be night or day when you do it? The water will be indigo or turquoise, and either the moon or the sun will be reflected in the still waters. It’s up to you.
Just know that after you throw your chosen item, whether it be silver ring or chipped white china, just know that it will sink quickly. You won’t be able to catch it as bubbles leave a trail as it falls deeper. Try to reach for it as it falls and you will fall into the icy water, too. So let it go, for soon it will be at the very bottom, and a blanket of orange rust, blue black barnacle, and snow white coral will cover the object’s once human very human artistry. It will just be another lump of green in the sea, and the whales will not mistake it for anything but the ocean floor. It will no longer be a tea cup, or a wedding ring, a bible or a belt. It will be nothing, covered by everything. And by that time you will off of the boat that carries you, by that time you might be tucked away in your quilt, the once caressed and fawned over object already forgotten.
So what will you throw? What will you send back? And will it be night or day when you do it?
