away again

We are going to the sea, so my words will have to be stilled for a little while. Not for long, though.

I stumbled across a new recording from Joanna Newsom, performing with Phillip Glass at a benefit for San Francisco’s Big Sur Henry Miller Library. Something about the harp, and her odd and high little voice (and the strength behind her small voice), always makes me feel as though I’m back in Alaska. If I close my eyes, I’m walking toward a small glacier, with moose tracks in the ice and snow beneath my feet. Have you ever walked up close to one of those giants? They’re very blue, and they sizzle and fizz like fireworks.

Here is the song:

See you again when we’re back onshore (and back from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!).
